All about Carla

My career in the travel industry began in 2004 as an apprentice. Over time I’ve climbed the career ladder, feeding my travel obsession along the way, and all these years later it’s still my absolute life’s passion. I feel that travel realises so much wonder and experience, and I love sharing my knowledge to recommend destinations for any occasion, including weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries or trips purely to spend precious time with loved ones. I’m extremely proud to be Manager of our Taunton branch, and to work alongside my fantastic team.

Italy will always be my favourite destination. I seem to have a lifelong love affair with the place: I’ve returned so many times, and I still can’t get enough. Florence and the Chianti region in Tuscany are particularly special to me: the Renaissance architecture is breathtaking, and admittedly, a perfect backdrop for some authentic Italian cuisine and a generous glass of wine! There is a great variety of restaurants and as well as spectacular museums, the area plays host to many operas and concerts. From nearby Lajatico, Andrea Bocelli gives a unique annual concert on his birthday at the Teatro del Silenzio. I was lucky enough to attend, and needless to say, he was amazing! Florence is also surrounded by lush green hills and bisected by the Arno River, which is lovely to walk down. It’s a perfect destination for customers in search of a sunlit city break with touches of nature, stunning sights, lovely streets to wander through and a depth of history. I’m always excited to book an Italian holiday!

I’ve had many adventures outside of Italy too, of course. Some of my most memorable trips include walking along the Great Wall of China, feeding elephants in Sri Lanka, testing my sea legs on an expedition-cruise along the Canadian and American east coast, snorkelling in the Maldives, wine-tasting in western Australia and ice-floating in Lapland.

More recently, I’ve tried both ocean-cruising in the stunning Norwegian Fjords and river-cruising along the Rhine, which were both fantastic. There are so many incredible opportunities across the world waiting for us to experience, and it’s such a delight to provide a gateway for customers to many lifelong adventures and memories.
