First Impressions
Date : 27/06/2018
The first thing you notice about Paradis is its stunning location. It sits on the edge of the Le Morne Brabant peninsula with the eponymous Le Morne mountain as its backdrop. Running alongside the resort is a powdery soft white sand beach with an inviting, crystal clear sea to match.
As a golf buggy took us onward to the reception, the resort felt spacious and tranquil. Once we arrived, we were greeted with a refreshing beverage and hot towel to freshen up before we began our tour. Another thing I noticed about Paradis, and indeed about all of the Beachcomber properties, is the very open design of the reception; immediately allowing you to see much of the resort, highlighting the surrounding nature and spectacular scenery with your first step in. The decor here is light and airy with a rural, yet luxurious feel to it. There are guests waiting and eager with their golf caddies to start their afternoon tee off, and others with their tennis rackets, now that the midday sun has subsided.
Sports, Facilities and Restaurants
Paradis boasts a professional 18 hole golf course which starts just a step away from reception and snakes throughout the peninsula. Keen golfers also get preferential rates at three other courses on the Island. And alongside golf, Paradis is a haven for all sports enthusiasts. The list of water sports included in the package is endless; including motorised sports such as water skiing, as well as non motorised sports like windsurfing, sailing and glass bottom boat trips, even down to the humble pedalo! They also have a state of the art gym, fitness classes, mountain bikes and tennis courts as well as professional tennis coaches, who are there to help improve that swing! Kite surfing and deep sea fishing (and diving, for that matter) can also be arranged but are paid for locally.
Another huge plus to Paradis is that its sister hotel, Dinarobin, shares the peninsula; and as a guest you can use all the facilities of both hotels, including the excellent restaurants.
Final Thoughts
Personally, I would recommend Paradis to couples and families who like to be active by day, and relaxed by night.
And to top it all off, a little birdie told me that Paradis is Miles' favourite place to stay in Mauritius!
Top tip: If possible, request a room at the very end of the peninsula. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and, if even believable, feels even more tranquil than the rest of the resort.
