Judy's private land of luxury on board the MV Viking Sea

Date : 05/09/2018

Arriving in Greenwich, I was stunned by my first sight of the beautiful MV Viking Sea sitting in dock on the Thames. After transferring across by tender, I was greeted by Viking ocean cruise representative Andrew Schweitzer, who kindly escorted me to my stateroom.

What a wonderful sight! The room was jaw-dropping, with a vast king size bed, spacious balcony, and a bathroom equipped with everything I would require for my three nights on this gorgeous ship, including a full array of Freyja toiletries.

The World Café

Following some pre-dinner drinks, I enjoyed an amazing meal in the World Café, which offers American classics, European fare, Chinese cuisine, Japanese sushi and a range of cuisines from around the world. This was topped off with a delicious glass of wine.

The Main Pool

The following day, I joined the complimentary shore excursion to explore historic Greenwich, a most informative walking tour hosted by a very experienced guide. On my return to the ship I made my way up to the Wintergarden, a serene space designed for a perfect afternoon tea.

Feeling very full from this quintessential British experience, I managed to swim a few lengths in the lovely outdoor pool nearby. As the sun was shining, the retractable roof was drawn back. What an excellent feature – allowing you to get a few lengths in no matter the weather.

Relaxing in the Evening

That evening I had a wonderful time in Manfredi’s. This speciality restaurant has a varied menu, has no cover charge, feels homely, and books quickly. The meal was delightful and came with complimentary wine.

The Nordic Spa

On the next day, I further unwound in the Nordic spa with an hour-long massage. The facilities are extensive, with even a snow grotto with snowflakes falling.

Feeling truly relaxed and rejuvenated, I toured the rest of the ship, including shops, cinemas, theatre, main restaurant, sport’s deck and viewing lounges.

In Conclusion

After a delicious breakfast on the third day, sadly, I had to pack my case and disembark from my private land of luxury – my all-inclusive cruise experience on the Viking Sea.

I’d recommend the experience wholeheartedly. The staff are amazingly friendly and attentive, and with just 930 guests this ship offers a truly wonderful experience.
