On the 28th of May 2026 I was lucky enough to go on board the Jupiter Viking ship. Wow what a beautiful ship. When boarding the ship, we were greeted by friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. A nice touch was that the crew members were giving out bottles of water as the guests were leaving the ship for excursions. The moment you stepped on board you can feel the luxury and sophistication of the ship. Creating a great first impression. The ship holds a maximum of 930 guests, so she is small compared to many cruise lines.

As I started my tour of the ship, I was amazed how spacious the ship was with lots of areas and spaces to sit and watch the world go by. Explorers lounge is be the best place as it has 270 degree views. The ship has lots of windows which let in the light and you always have a view. The quality of the furnishings was outstanding, and you could feel the quality.
The Spa was a highlight for me; it was absolutely stunning. The spa offers a Hydrotherapy pool, Eucalyptus steam room, Finnish sauna, cold plunge pool, snow Grotto, heated tile loungers and relaxation lounges. Viking includes access to the spa the thermal beds to all guests on board at no extra charge. Unlike other cruise companies. If you wish to indulge in a range of facials, massages and wellness treatments this is at an extra cost. Why not try the Nordic spa ritual: Start in the steam room or sauna, followed by a plunge into cold water or a few moments in the Snow Grotto. Then, relax on a heated lounger and repeat. It’s a deeply refreshing cycle that leaves you feeling energized and balanced.

The pool area was also a great place. Ample number of sunbeds that face the pool and face out to sea for the views. There is a retractable roof over the pool so the pool can be used in all weathers. Again, the quality of the sunbeds and furniture was amazing.

The restaurants and food on board are second to none and what really stood out for me is that they do not charge to eat in the alternative restaurants. You can make the reservation before you get on board, or you can once on board but recommend doing this before you go. If you are in a group, you can have a private room to dine in. The alternative restaurants are the Manfredi’s which is an Italian restaurant. The Chefs table or Kitchen. The main restaurant has a different menu every day including regional specialities made with fresh local ingredients. I had lunch in the World Cafe. This is a buffet style restaurant with live cooking open kitchen and lots of international cuisine to choose from. It was delicious so much to choose from.

Entertainment on board is very relaxed in the evening. They have the Sta theatre, which is used for destination talks, guest presentations and can also be used as a cinema. Torshavin is a cocktail lounge where they will have live bands, jazz cabaret and waiter service. This is open until late in the evenings. They also have the Planetarium theatre (star gazing dome) It’s a dome that has 26 seats. You can view the star and there is an astrologer on board who talks you through the star etc. The Viking fleet is identical, every ship has the same apart from Jupiter and Orian who have the Planetarium theatre

Overall, I was very impressed with Viking Jupiter, and I have to say was the nicest ship I have been on. I felt very lucky to have the chance of getting on board this ship as it's not very often the ships come into the UK.
