Day 1: UK to Santiago

Today, you fly to Santiago.

Day 2: Santiago

Today is free for you to explore Santiago. This evening you will get to know your travelling companions better over a drink and dinner.

Day 3: Santiago

The city of Santiago lies in a lovely setting beneath the majestic Andes and is a city of wide boulevards and delightful parks and gardens. This morning we’ve included a city tour, allowing you to see the Presidential Palace and the residential districts of Las Condes and Providencia, famous for their beautiful homes. You’ll finish on San Cristobal Hill, where you’ll enjoy a spectacular view of the foothills of the snow-capped Andes. There is then free time for you to find a little place for lunch and this afternoon has been left free for you to make your own discoveries. Alternatively, why not join an optional excursion to Santa Rita Vineyard. The Maipo Valley, a region in central Chile better known as the winemaking valley that features the Santa Rita winery, one of the country’s most important exporter of wine. Santa Rita welcomes visitors to share its secrets in the winemaking process and exporting activities. This half day tour includes a walk through the beautifully landscaped colonial grounds of the company founded in 1880 by Don Domingo Fernández Concha when he first bought the finest grapes from France to the rich soils of the Maipo Valley. Today it’s considered one of the most important in the world of its kind. We’ll visit the cellars, the vineyards and end with a wine tasting experience before heading back to the hotel.

Day 4: Mendoza

Driving over the Andes offers views of Mount Aconcagua, which at 23,000ft is the highest peak in the Americas. On our journey we'll retrace the steps of Native Indians, Incas and the first Spanish settlers on our way to Mendoza, where today more than 60% of the country's wine is produced. The grapes from this region are used for white wines including chenin blanc and reds such as cabernet sauvignon.

Day 5: Mendoza

This morning, join us on an included sightseeing tour of the stunning city of Mendoza. This afternoon has been left free for you to enjoy this leafy city at the foot of the Andes at leisure.

Day 6: Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, is dubbed the 'Paris of the Americas' and is our destination today. Highlights include Plaza de Mayo, where the Casa Rosada (Government House) is the focal point. La Boca District is renowned for its brightly painted houses, and is now an artists' colony, while Recoleta cemetery is famous as the burial place of Eva Peron. This evening, we offer an optional visit to The Argentine Experience. This is a fun night out for anyone who wants to learn more about Argentinian culture and cuisine. You'll enjoy some delicious food, learn how to prepare empanadas and make your very own mate - a traditional Argentian drink.

Day 7: Buenos Aires - at Leisure

Tigre and Parana Delta is a labyrinth of magnificent waterways fed by the Parana River. You can explore this maze of riverside villas, Victorian docks and English-style gardens from a traditional riverboat on an optional excursion today. For a taste of the city's culture, join us for an optional dinner and tango show this evening.

Day 8: Buenos Aires - at Leisure

Today take the option to travel to the heart of Argentina's Pampas to experience a typical 'estancia' (ranch). Alternatively, enjoy getting to know the city at your own pace.

Day 9: Iguaçú

We'll fly to Iguaçú Falls today, where our base for two nights is on the Argentinian side of this natural wonder. You could spend a relaxed afternoon enjoying your hotel's facilities.

Day 10: Iguaçú Falls

We'll journey into Iguaçú National Park, taking the Ecological train that leads through the jungle to the Argentinian side of the Iguaçú Falls. Situated at the meeting point of three countries - Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina you will witness spectacular views of the neighbouring countries Paraguay and Brazil. The Falls are one of the world's largest natural wonders and consist of an astounding 275 separate waterfalls, falling from an average height of 70 metres. You will walk along a 1,100 metre long path and will arrive at the famous Devil's Gorge Fall, as well as walk along Upper and Lower trails that allow you to observe the waterfalls upclose.

Day 11: Rio de Janeiro

Today we'll fly to Rio de Janeiro.

Day 12: Rio de Janeiro

Brazil, the world's fifth largest country, is a land of warm sun, bright colours, irresistible rhythms and natural beauty. The city of Rio de Janeiro is beautifully situated beneath Sugarloaf Mountain and blessed with the magnificent beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. Corcovado, home to the famous statue of Christ, is the perfect introduction to the city and we include a visit here today. To reach the statue we'll ascend via a small cog railway, enjoying superb views over Rio. To view the city from the top of the mountain, join our optional excursion via cable car. Alternatively, explore Rio at your own pace this afternoon. This evening we'll gather as a group for a farewell dinner at a typical Brazilian Churrascaria. A churrascaria is a place where meat is cooked in churrasco style, which translates roughly from the Portuguese word for 'barbecue'. Experience the famous Brazilian barbecue and taste various types of meat including cuts of prime beef to even ostrich, lamb, and wild boar.
