I have just returned from the ATAS Conference where I was able to spend 2 days at the amazing Silverstone Circuit surrounded by Touring and Adventure suppliers. It was an amazing two days filled with guest speakers, a trade fair, evening events and an incredible walk around the track itself!
A highlight for me was the Trade Fair where we got to walk around and speak to so many different suppliers. I got to talk to them about their destinations, products they offer and what new products they are releasing, and it helped me gain such an insight into each and every one. I feel that my knowledge has expanded so much and I have come away knowing even more about our Touring and Adventure suppliers.
I loved the conference session with Wendy Wu as I feel that she is such an inspiration as to how passionate we should be about touring and adventure. At Miles Morgan we are very familiar with Wendy Wu Tours and we love their products so being able to hear from Wendy herself was just amazing. I loved hearing how she began her company and how it has expanded to be what it is today. She is so passionate about all her tours and truly believes in offering the best experiences for her customers. She wants them to not just visit these destinations but to experience them almost like they are living there.
Reubens Retreat, who was the charity partner for the event, hosted an opportunity to run or walk 6k around the iconic Silverstone Circuit at the beginning of day 2. I love Formula 1 so there was no way I could not do this even though I did walk, not run. I am just so grateful that I got the opportunity to walk around this amazing tack as the sun was still rising whilst raising money for an incredible charity was such a surreal experience that I know I won't get the chance to do again.
Our first evening event was A Night of Incredible Journeys where we got to experience food from different cultures and enjoy Bhangra dancing as well as getting to know fellow agents and suppliers. The second evening was a Gala Dinner with Virgin Atlantic and Delta Airlines and it was a lovely way to sum up the amazing two days.
Since I have returned from Silverstone, I have so much more that I can talk to customers about when it comes to Touring and Adventure holidays because of the knowledge and experience, I gained whilst I was there.
