Full Itinerary
Day 1: London Heathrow
Today you will arrive in London Heathrow for your flight to Perth.
Day 2 - 4: Perth
On your first day in Perth, you may like to take the red bus tour around the city like Miles did. It will give you a great overview of the city and you will see the highlights and distance involved.
Why not explore Kings Park where you will see some stunning views of Perth. Another place to visit is Perth’s Botanical Gardens which include the beautiful backdrop of the city. You could also take a walk along the harbour and take in the sights. Stay 3 nights at the Pan Pacific hotel.
Day 5 & 6: Fremantle
Today you will arrive in Fremantle, just a 20-minute transfer away from Perth. Fremantle has a relaxing vibe with a slow pace; it’s a lovely town to wind down, walk and relax in.
Whilst here, you could take the ferry to Rottnest Island. This island is home to the Quokka, a cute animal only found on this island. Will you be able to get a Quokka selfie like Miles did? This island has no cars and only a local bus, visitors simply walk or cycle. You can cycle around the whole island which is 20km but is definitely worth it because you will come across beautiful beaches and bays. Stay 2 nights at The Be Fremantle, situated in the middle of the harbour.
Day 7: Travel North, Geraldton
Today you will be travelling north and your first stop is Geraldton. On the way, you will be able to visit the Pinnacles, just 10 minutes off the main highway. They are located just over two hours away from Perth and contain a large area of rocks which stick skywards; some to the height of a few metres. Finally, arrive in Geraldton, a small town with a quaint seafront. Stay 1 night at the Ibis hotel.
Day 8 & 9: Monkey Mania
Today, head to Monkey Mania. The resort is quite isolated, almost 30km from the nearest town of Denham. In the morning, watch the wild dolphins come to the shore for food. During the day, enjoy the white sand beach and try to spot the dolphins. Stay 2 nights at the Monkey Mania Dolphin Resort
Day 10 – 12: Exmouth
Today, you will drive to Exmouth, which will be your longest drive of the journey. Take advantage of a few sights along the way including shell beach. After a long day of travelling, you will arrive at the Mantarays Resort on the outskirts of Exmouth. Here, there are many types of reef exploration activities – from simple snorkelling or driving trips to swimming with whale sharks and hump back whales, depending on the season. Miles decided to go whale sharking. Stay 3 nights at the Mantaray Resort
Day 13 & 14: Coral Bay
Today you will arrive in Coral Bay. It offers the opportunity to snorkel the Ningaloo Reef straight off the beach. The beach goes out at ankle height for about 30 metres before dropping suddenly into the reef. This location is completed by coral and an abundance of fish. Stay 2 nights at the Ningaloo Reef Resort
Day 15 & 16: Travel South, Kalbarri
Today you will head back to Perth. Stop at Kalbarri on the way. Kalbarri is a coastal town surrounded by National Park and offers stunning scenery including gorges, rivers and beaches completed by stunning rugged coastal scenery. You could take a boat trip up the Murchison River with a spot of wildlife spotting including Ospreys and other birds. You can also witness the amazing sunsets. Stay 2 nights at the Best Western.
Day 17: Perth
Today you will arrive in Perth where you will return your hire car and head back home on your flight to Heathrow.

As we all know, Australia is a huge country. Distances between cities are large and driving is not for the faint hearted! I recently took a family trip to the western coast of Australia and started just north of Perth and took a road trip along the coast as far as Exmouth and the Nigaloo Reef. What a journey it turned out to be!
